Russia may have 10% of world e-commerce market by 2025
MOSCOW, Oct 18 (PRIME) -- Russia’s share of the world e-commerce market may rise up to 10% by 2025, and the slice of e-commerce in the country’s total volume of trade may reach 20%, the Industry and Trade Ministry said on Wednesday, citing a draft of the e-commerce development strategy.
The ministry expects at least 70% of local retail stores to use the online channel by 2025 and at least 80% of citizens above 12 years old to surf the Internet to make purchases.
“According to experts, the e-commerce segment in Russia is at 3–4% of the total retail turnover,” the draft read. The segment shows a double-digit growth.
The document also contains a package of measures aimed to develop e-commerce, including protection of personal data and provision of security of trade, which would raise the level of confidence of business and people in the electronic commerce space.
